ADMISSIONS POLICY
The school admits children in accordance with the policy laid down by Bath & North East Somerset local education authority. The school can admit 10 children into the reception year. If more than 10 applications are received, the LEA then decides which children should be offered places. There is an appeals procedure for parents who wish to challenge the decision.
Children are offered three full terms of education in their reception year and most are admitted in the September following their fourth birthday. Legally, however, children do not have to be in school until the beginning of the term following their fifth birthday, so parents may defer the start of school until January or April if they wish.
Children are invited into school for two sessions (10.00 a.m. - 12.00) in the summer term preceding their entry. They are also invited to attend a full morning session in July. Parents are invited to a meeting also in the summer term when the school’s induction programme is explained.
